Full itinerary

  1. Hotel pickup

At the time you chose at checkout, our transfer picks you up at your hotel in Copacabana, Leme, Leblon or Ipanema and takes you to São Conrado Metro Station (exit A), where your local guide checks you in.

  2. Stop 1: Rocinha Viewpoint + Craft Fair

    20 min*

Start your tour at the community's most famous landmark: the Mirante Rocinha, with a breathtaking panoramic view. While you enjoy the view of Rocinha, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and Christ the Redeemer, your local guide will welcome you and give you an overview of the tour. Visit the Craft Fair and connect with local artists. In just a few minutes you will understand the urban contrast that makes Rocinha unique: history, resistance and creativity in every alley.

  3. Stop 2: Cultural Rooftop + Capoeira Project

    20 min*

On the way to the Cultural Rooftop, we pass through Rua 1, where essential public services are concentrated, representing decades of struggle for citizenship, health and infrastructure, as well as the traditional Rua 1 court. At the Cultural Rooftop, in Laboriaux, you will enjoy another amazing view of the favela while watching a show by Acorda Capoeira, a project that has been changing lives through capoeira in Rocinha for over 20 years. In this show, masters and young people from the community present the richness of capoeira through maculelê, dance and other Afro-Brazilian cultural expressions.

  4. Stop 3: Alley + Private Rooftop

    20 min*

The walk goes deeper through the most iconic alley of the upper part of the favela to a private rooftop. Here you are invited into a local home to talk with the hosts and go up to their rooftop, an authentic encounter with daily life in Rocinha. Aerial drone footage is available.

  5. Stop 4: Wark Gallery

    10 min*

We visit the gallery of Wark, a Rocinha artist known internationally for his Warkanjo. The space brings together art, color and social transformation, housing his work, a fun ball pit and English and drawing classes for local children. If you like, you can buy pieces directly from the artist, a direct way to support the local economy.

  6. Stop 5: Castelinho Court

    20 min*

At the Castelinho Court, next to the Castelinho Daycare, the Revitalizaro Project, created by Leandro Discreto, turned a run-down space into a vibrant meeting point. With new colors and graffiti, the place now promotes sports, art and community integration through 3x3 basketball and activities for children and young people. Along the way, you will see the Francisco de Paula Brito Municipal School: founded in 1971, Rocinha's first school is the result of residents' demands for public education.

  7. Stop 6: Rua Nova: Altinha in the Favela

    10 min*

Known as Funk Street, Rua Nova (Rua 4) was revitalized in 2010 by the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). Today, the street is an exclusive route where local guides share the world of altinha, funk and samba. Join Altinha na Favela, a chance to play with residents and experience one of the most popular pastimes of Rio culture.

  8. Stop 7: Samba in the Favela

    10 min*

The highlight of this stop is Samba na Favela, a project that invites you to dive into the essence of samba, learning about its history and roots and, of course, learning to dance it with people who truly live this culture. It is also the perfect moment to see local crafts and cool off with a Sobe Aê beer!

  9. Stop 8: Largo do Boiadeiro

    5 min*

Under colorful awnings, the Boiadeiro path is one of Rocinha's shopping streets and, on weekends, it hosts street markets and funk parties. Rich in history and culture, it is busy every day with residents and visitors.

  10. Stop 9: Via Ápia and Rocinha Popular Market

    10 min*

Discover Via Ápia, Rocinha's liveliest street and main commercial center, open 24 hours a day as a hub for food, nightlife and leisure. At the Rocinha Popular Market, known as the "Camelódromo", you will love the variety of shops and local products while supporting community businesses.

  11. Return to the hotel

At the end of the tour, at São Conrado Metro Station, your guide checks you out safely and the transfer takes you back to your hotel.
